Ulleung-gun Holds 'Comprehensive Development Plan Public Briefing' Looking Ahead 100 Years

Global Green U-City and Ulleung-gun Master Plan Implementation Report

On the 25th, Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, held a residents' briefing session on the establishment of the Ulleung-gun Comprehensive Development Plan and the Global Green U-City at the Ulleung-gun Agricultural Technology Center, attended by over 200 residents.

The governor of Ulleung County in South Korea is explaining to residents about the establishment of the county's comprehensive development plan and the Global Green U City.

The briefing session served as an opportunity to explain the comprehensive development plan and its implementation process desired by the residents following the enactment of the "Special Act on Support for Remote Islands such as Ulleungdo and Heuksando," and to inform about the Ulleung Global Green U-City project being carried out as part of the K-U City project.

Kim Dong-gi, Director of the Local Era Policy Division of Gyeongbuk Province, announced that based on three major innovations?the Special Act on Support for Remote Islands such as Ulleungdo, White Space, and Regulatory Free Zones?efforts are being made to establish K-Singapore, and that a supplementary budget of 100 million KRW has been allocated for the establishment of the Ulleung-gun Comprehensive Development Plan.

Handong University highlighted the necessity of the Handong Ulleung Campus, emphasized its role as a think tank, and promised to establish the East Sea Regional Innovation Center within this year, presenting a blueprint for the development of Ulleung-gun.

Nam Han-kwon, the county governor, stated, “We ask all residents to actively submit their opinions and cooperate so that the establishment of the comprehensive development plan, which will lay the foundation for Ulleung-gun’s next 100 years, and the Ulleung Global Green U-City project can proceed smoothly.”

Ulleung-gun announced that it will conduct several rounds of resident opinion gathering procedures to be included in the comprehensive development plan and will hold interim and final reporting sessions for the establishment of the comprehensive development plan in cooperation with Gyeongbuk Province.
