Spokesperson Choi Min-seok said at a briefing that "this will be the first summit meeting since the launch of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration. It has been about 700 days since Leader Lee proposed the meeting," expressing this view.
Spokesperson Choi added, "We hope a channel of communication that fully reflects the people's will will open," and said, "We hope the summit will be a place where both sides put their heads together to find answers on how to realize the people's will."
He went on to point out, "The attitude shown by the Presidential Office during the working-level negotiations raises doubts about whether a shift in government policy direction can be achieved," and emphasized, "The people clearly gave a mandate through the April 10 general election, and the summit is a place where the President responds to that mandate."
He said, "Although the Presidential Office has not shown a willingness to act on the agenda items, we hope the President's answer is not already decided."
