The partial amendment to the 'Gyeonggi-do Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Formation and Operation Ordinance' to strengthen the disaster response system passed the Gyeonggi-do Provincial Assembly on the 26th.
The amended ordinance clarifies the roles of departments according to disasters to establish a rapid response system, newly establishes disaster types such as heat waves and cold waves, and enables efficient promotion of disaster response, recovery, support, and restoration.
Gyeonggi-do explained that this amendment clearly defines the role of the department in charge of recovery, enhancing the speed and efficiency of disaster response.
In addition, the situation assessment meetings, which were held separately by the natural disaster and social disaster departments, will now be held together with the disaster recovery department to improve work connectivity.
Furthermore, the authority for final decisions was improved to enable prompt decision-making, and some terms in the provisions were revised to match the terminology used by the provincial countermeasures headquarters.
