Miracle Baby Born from Mother Killed in Airstrike... Ultimately Passed Away

Mother Dies in Israeli Airstrike... Emergency Cesarean Section
Received Incubator Treatment but Health Deteriorated and Passed Away

A premature baby who was miraculously saved through an emergency cesarean section from the womb of a mother who died in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza ultimately passed away after four days.

On the 26th (local time), AFP and others reported that a baby girl named Sabrin Alu, born on the 21st (local time) to a mother who was 30 weeks pregnant, died the previous day at the Emirates Hospital in Rafah, Gaza.

Sabrin Alsakini, a refugee from Rafah, the southernmost part of Gaza, was caught in an Israeli airstrike on the night of the 21st, in which her husband and 4-year-old daughter died. Alsakini was also injured in the head and abdomen and was rushed to the emergency room of Kuwait Hospital in Rafah in critical condition.

At that time, Alsakini was 30 weeks pregnant, and paramedics who realized this urgently transferred her to the nearby Kuwait Hospital. Medical staff quickly performed a cesarean section to deliver the baby from Alsakini’s womb and provided emergency care. Alsakini died during the surgery.

The baby, born prematurely weighing 1.4 kg, was named “Sabrin” after her mother and was later transferred to the Emirates Hospital in Rafah, where she received treatment in an incubator. However, although Sabrin seemed to stabilize, her health deteriorated, and she died after five days.

Muhammad Salama, head of the emergency neonatal unit at the hospital caring for Sabrin, said, “The baby was born with immature respiratory organs and a very weak immune system, and ultimately passed away.”

Sabrin’s uncle told AP, “God took something from us but gave us something in return. But now He has taken everything. My sister’s family has been completely wiped out.” It is reported that Sabrin was buried alongside her father’s grave.

Israel has designated Rafah, the southernmost border city of Gaza, as Hamas’s last stronghold and, despite international calls including from the United States, is preparing a ground operation and continuing airstrikes on the area.

The Gaza Health Ministry, operated by Hamas, announced that more than 34,000 Palestinians have died in the war so far, with about two-thirds of them being women and children.
