Ulsan City to Pay Fishermen's Allowance of 600,000 KRW Annually Starting This Year

Ulsan City will provide fishermen's allowances from this year to support fishermen's income.

The fishermen's allowance is funded 80% by Ulsan City and 20% by each district and county, with 600,000 KRW paid annually per fishing household.

The fishermen's allowance being provided this time is a pledge of the 8th elected administration, and the basis for support was established through the amendment of the "Ulsan Metropolitan City Farmers and Fishermen Allowance Support Ordinance" in 2022.

The application period is from May 1 to June 30, and applications can be submitted at the Eup, Myeon, and Dong administrative welfare centers.

Eligible recipients are fishermen who have continuously resided in Ulsan City since January 1 of this year and receive fisheries public direct payments (small-scale fishing households, crew members, fisheries resource protection, eco-friendly seafood production support), and applications can be submitted simultaneously with the direct payment application.

Once the support recipients are confirmed, 600,000 KRW per fishing household will be paid in cash in a lump sum by December.

The fishermen's allowance is provided to promote public interest functions such as the safe supply of seafood through fishing activities, conservation of fisheries resources and marine environment, protection of maritime territory, and maintenance of fishing communities.
