Gangnam-gu, Launch of Saemaeul Disinfection Volunteer Corps

On the 26th at 10 AM, a launch ceremony with over 140 participants was held at Neulbeot Neighborhood Park in Daechi-dong
Disinfection activities will be conducted throughout the area including parks until November

Gangnam-gu, Launch of Saemaeul Disinfection Volunteer Corps

Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) Saemaeul Movement Gangnam-gu Branch held the Saemaeul Disinfection Volunteer Corps inauguration ceremony on the 26th at Neulbeot Neighborhood Park in Daechi-dong. The Saemaeul Disinfection Volunteer Corps is a civilian volunteer group that conducts pest control activities to protect the health of residents from various infectious diseases.


The inauguration ceremony was attended by about 140 people, including Lee Jong-seon, head of the Saemaeul Movement Gangnam-gu Branch, Yoon Sang-tae, chairman of the Saemaeul Leaders Association, Park Jo-yeon, president of the Saemaeul Women's Association, and other organization executives and leaders. After the ceremony and disinfection demonstration, they moved to the nearby Yangjaecheon Stream to remove pollutants from the stream banks and riverbed, and carried out water quality improvement activities by throwing eco-friendly purifiers called EM soil balls, made by mixing fermented solution into loess, into the stream.


Starting with this inauguration ceremony, the Disinfection Volunteer Corps will conduct disinfection activities mainly in local parks using vehicles and equipment until November. They will also provide special disinfection support as needed upon civil requests or when additional disinfection is required.


Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated, “In a situation where pest damage due to climate change is worsening, I support the activities of the Saemaeul Disinfection Volunteer Corps to protect the health and safety of our residents.”
