Gwangjin-gu Joins Hands with Student Councils of Konkuk University and Sejong University

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has signed a business agreement with the student councils of Konkuk University and Sejong University to promote the development of youth culture and arts.

This agreement was initiated to create a youth-centered cultural and artistic platform through mutual cooperation between the public sector and academia. The main goal is the successful hosting of the ‘2024 Cheongchundaero’ festival scheduled for September.

Following the agreement, students from Konkuk University and Sejong University will participate in the festival planning committee. They will take charge of overall festival management, establishing detailed plans for planning, promotion, and performance composition. Twenty students from each school will be appointed to lead this youth-driven event.

In addition, the parties will jointly promote the revitalization of cultural and artistic activities in the Neungdong-ro university district and publicize district projects related to youth and university students. It is expected that organic cooperation among the institutions will create a synergy effect in leading youth culture.

At the signing ceremony on the 26th, Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, attended along with the 55th Student Council of Konkuk University ‘Ro:路’ (President Jo Jae-hee) and the 37th Student Council of Sejong University ‘Yeoul’ (President Kim Ji-soo).

Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “We aim to further highlight the meaning of Cheongchundaero by reflecting the brilliant ideas of the students who are the main protagonists of the festival,” adding, “We will do our best to continuously communicate generously with the younger generation and achieve the development of culture and arts.”

Launched last year, ‘Cheongchundaero’ attracted 3,800 young people and was a great success. As a distinctive festival for youth, it gained much attention by showcasing various exhibitions, performances, and experiences.
