Gijang-gun Successfully Hosts the 25th Gijang Senior Citizens Festival for the Elderly

Thanking the Lifelong Dedication and Efforts of Seniors for Family and Community Welfare

On the 25th, Gijang-gun, Busan, successfully held the “25th Gijang Senior Citizens’ Festival” at the Gijang Gymnasium, hosting over 6,000 senior citizens.

Celebrating its 25th year, the Gijang Senior Citizens’ Festival was organized by the Gijang-gun Saemaeul Association (Chairman Park Yong-ju) to express gratitude for the lifelong dedication of senior citizens to their families and communities.


Additionally, the event was made even more meaningful by the simultaneous celebration of “Gijang Residents’ Day (May 26)” to promote community unity and the great leap forward of Gijang.


Following the “Gijang Residents’ Day (May 26) Ceremony” at 12:10 PM, the first part of the official event began at 12:20 PM with an opening declaration and an awards ceremony honoring individuals who have promoted filial piety and respect for elders. The second part featured celebratory performances by various invited singers, including Kang Hye-yeon (Miss Trot), Kang Tae-gwan (Gijang-gun Ambassador), and Seo Ga-bi, delivering rich and diverse performances that greatly delighted the senior attendees.


In addition, side events at the venue offered free health check services for seniors, including blood pressure and blood sugar tests, as well as senior employment counseling, free hair services, and free tea service.


Notably, this event was supported by over 1,000 participants from various organizations, including the Gijang-gun Saemaeul Association (Council, Women’s Association, Saemaeul Library, Saemaeul Traffic Volunteer Corps), the residents’ autonomy committees and village chiefs from five eup and myeon, the Gijang-gun Women’s Association Council, Gijang-gun Autonomous Crime Prevention Union, Gijang-gun Model Drivers Association, Gijang-gun Volunteer Center, Gijang-gun Branch of the Korean Hairdressers Association, Gijang-gun Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association, Gijang-gun Council of the Movement for Right Living, Gijang-gun Branch of the Korea Freedom Federation, Gijang-gun Council of the National Unification Advisory Council, Junggwan Sindosi Apartment Union, Ilgwang Sindosi Apartment Union, Gijang-gun District Council of the Korean Red Cross Volunteer Association, Korean Life Improvement Association, Gijang Sharing Association, Gijang-gun Daycare Center Association, Gijang Fire Station Volunteer Fire Brigade, Volunteer Center Gijang-eup Camp, Gijang Youth Recorder Ensemble, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Gori Nuclear Power Headquarters, Korea Electric Power Service (KEPCO KPS), Gijang Police Station, Gijang Fire Station, and Gijang-gun staff, all of whom supported the event and volunteered to prevent safety accidents.


Park Yong-ju, chairman of the Gijang-gun Saemaeul Association, which organized the event, said, “We prepared with our utmost effort so that senior citizens could feel safe and fully enjoy themselves on April 25.”


County Governor Jeong Jong-bok said, “I hope all the senior citizens who participated today had a joyful time,” adding, “We will actively promote various projects for senior welfare so that the senior citizens who have worked hard can live healthier and happier lives.”
