The Korea Development Institute (KDI) announced on the 26th that it has appointed Nam Chang-woo, Senior Research Fellow of the Macroeconomic and Financial Policy Research Department, as the new Deputy President for Research.
Deputy President Nam graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in Philosophy, earned a master's degree in Economics from Seoul National University, and obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A&M University in the United States. He has served as Associate Research Fellow of KDI's Macroeconomic and Financial Policy Research Department, Director of KDI's Research Coordination Office, Chair of KDI's Publication Committee, Deputy President for Management at KDI, and Senior Research Fellow of the Macroeconomic and Financial Policy Research Department at KDI.
From September 2022 to December 2023, he worked as an advisor to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choo Kyung-ho.
His main research areas include corporate policy (investment, corporate tax, corporate restructuring, etc.), macro-finance, and policy finance.
KDI operates a multiple deputy president system with separate deputy presidents for research and management, and the term of office for the Deputy President for Research is not fixed.
