Lee "I will convey public sentiment without alteration"
"Pre-coordination seems challenging"
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, "I will put everything aside and meet President Yoon Seok-yeol first."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 26th, Lee said, "Since it has been a while since the summit meeting, we need to organize the agenda and coordinate in advance, but even that seems difficult," adding, "I will put everything aside and meet President Yoon first." He further added, "Since it would be a waste of time to spend organizing the agenda, I will quickly arrange the meeting schedule."
He said, "I will meet President Yoon and convey the public sentiment revealed in the general election without any distortion," and "I will properly communicate the harsh realities on the ground regarding people’s livelihoods and request necessary measures." He continued, "If we fail to overcome this crisis now, we will collapse, so I will strive to achieve the results the people want and possible measures in this meeting." Furthermore, he said, "I hope President Yoon will also listen well to the difficult situations of the people and the public opinion from the general election," and "I earnestly ask him to think together about how to overcome this crisis."
The Presidential Office and the Democratic Party leader’s office will hold the third working-level meeting this morning to prepare for the summit meeting. Kwon Hyuk-gi, head of political planning at the Democratic Party leader’s office, stated, "Cheon Jun-ho, chief secretary of the leader’s office, called Hong Cheol-ho, senior secretary for political affairs at the Presidential Office, to convey that 'Leader Lee has actively accepted the meeting,' and proposed holding the third working-level preparatory meeting this morning." He added, "The results of the meeting will be briefed at 2 p.m.," and "The time and place of the meeting will be kept confidential."
