On the 26th, Donga Pharmaceutical announced that it recently signed a business agreement with the nonprofit private organization "A Happy World with Animals (Donghaeng)." Part of the sales proceeds from Donga Pharmaceutical's pet supplement brand Betple will be donated to secure funding. In addition, the Donga Petner Supporters, voluntarily formed by employees, participate in walking and bathing volunteer activities for abandoned animals protected at Baladang, an adoption center operated by Donghaeng, while directly filming photos and videos to create adoption content. The company also plans to actively promote abandoned animal adoption by posting the produced content on the company's official SNS accounts.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs' "2022 Survey on the Protection and Welfare of Companion Animals," approximately 110,000 abandoned animals were rescued in one year. Among them, 38.9% were euthanized due to a lack of shelter facilities. Established in 2011, Donghaeng rescues animals in crisis from city entrusted shelters and other places, conducts health checkups at animal hospitals, and finds new families for them. To date, more than 2,000 dogs and cats have been adopted by new families.
Betple, whose sales proceeds are being donated this time, is a pet supplement brand launched by Donga Pharmaceutical in December last year to help manage stress and health of companion animals. Nutritional supplements for dogs and cats have been introduced, developed directly by Donga Pharmaceutical’s veterinarians and pet experts.
A Donga Pharmaceutical official said, “This agreement is especially meaningful as it allows us to protect animals that are indiscriminately abandoned and raise awareness about abandoned animal adoption together with our employees,” adding, “We will continue to support various activities that help people and animals live healthy lives in harmony.”
