Creation of Danghyeoncheon Charming Garden, Planting with Village Gardeners and Resident Participation
Colorful Spring Flowers Planted in Danghyeoncheon and Jungnangcheon Specialized Flowerbeds, Completion by Late April
Bulamsan Healing Town Flowerbed Transformed into Four Seasons Garden Themed on 'Gulliver's Travels' Fairy Tale
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it will transform major walking trails and parks in the area, including riverside paths, into attractive gardens to welcome spring.
First, various spring flowers were planted along Danghyeoncheon and Jungnangcheon specialized flower beds, which are key walking routes for residents, as well as along district boundaries. This is to invigorate residents' daily lives by providing a healing time walking through trails beautifully decorated with colorful flowers in the fresh spring season.
The four-season garden in Bulamsan Healing Town has also been refreshed with spring flowers. Under the theme of "Gulliver's Travels," it conveys a hopeful message to visitors that "depending on whom you meet, you can discover various possibilities within yourself." More than 30 species of spring flowers were carefully selected and planted by local village gardeners, making it even more splendid. There is also a hot air balloon photo zone where visitors can create memories amidst the fully bloomed, colorful flower fields.
Last year, the Danghyeoncheon specialized flower bed, which was very popular as a European-themed garden, is being revamped this year as the "Attractive Garden" in connection with the Seoul International Garden Expo. Various plants (19 trees, 1,876 shrubs, and 9,240 herbaceous plants) with diverse colors and forms harmonize with the "Colorful Nowon" concept sculpture, allowing visitors to enjoy a garden that changes colors beautifully throughout the four seasons.
The creation of this "Attractive Garden" involved garden artists in the design phase and local village gardeners from Nowon-gu as well as residents in the planting process. The district encourages residents to participate directly in garden creation to enhance pride and responsibility toward the local community, hoping this will help spread garden culture.
On May 1, a "Garden Festival" will be held at the Danghyeoncheon Attractive Garden. Through various programs such as a talk concert with the head of the Nowon-gu Garden Support Center focused on gardening and gardens, book curation, and garden tours, the garden space will be expanded beyond just a viewing area to a healing and cultural space, offering residents an attractive experience.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, "The beauty and fragrance of a single flower blooming by the roadside can be a great healing resource that brings smiles to us." He added, "We will continue to create attractive gardens along walking paths just 5 to 10 minutes away in daily life, making every neighborhood a healing space for residents."
