Thorough Preparation for Climate Change... Praying for a Bountiful Harvest
The Jeonbuk Headquarters of the Korea Rural Community Corporation and the Jeonju-Wanju-Imsil Branch held the 2024 Jeonbuk Headquarters Representative Safe Farming Water Release Ceremony at Dae-A Reservoir in Gosan-myeon, Wanju-gun, marking the start of full-scale agricultural water supply, the corporation announced on the 25th.
The event was attended by about 80 people, including National Assembly member Ahn Ho-young, Kim Jong-hoon, Vice Governor of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province for Economic Affairs, Yoo Hee-tae, Mayor of Wanju-gun, local dignitaries, Park Tae-seon, Director of Infrastructure Projects at Korea Rural Community Corporation, Lee Jeong-moon, Head of Jeonbuk Regional Headquarters, and Lee Kwang-hee, Director of Jeonju-Wanju-Imsil Branch, who prayed for a safe and abundant farming year.

The Jeonbuk Headquarters supplies approximately 190 million tons of agricultural water to 10,265 hectares within the Dae-A wide-area water system, including 3,051 hectares in Wanju-gun, 3,553 hectares in Iksan-si, and 3,661 hectares in Gunsan-si, by channeling water secured from Dae-A, Dongsang, and Gyeongcheon reservoirs through the Eouchwi water gate.
Park Tae-seon, Director of Infrastructure Projects, pledged, "With today's water release ceremony as a milestone, all employees in the Jeonbuk region will reaffirm their mission to work for farmers and devote all their efforts to ensuring that the precious sweat of farmers leads to abundant harvests."
The Jeonbuk Headquarters of the Korea Rural Community Corporation stated, "We have completed pre-inspection and repair of aging facilities for agricultural water supply and will operate the Water Management Situation Room until September 30," adding, "We will proactively respond to climate change and provide full support for farming through scientific and rational water management."
