Actor Baek Yoon-sik won a partial victory in the second trial of a lawsuit seeking to ban the publication of an essay written by his ex-lover.
The Seoul High Court Civil Division 9 (Presiding Judge Sung Ji-yong) ruled on the 25th that Baek’s appeal against the essay publisher CEO Seo regarding the injunction on publication and sales resulted in a partial win for the plaintiff, consistent with the first trial. However, the court did not disclose the specific reasons for the ruling on that day.
Previously, broadcaster reporter A attracted attention when it was revealed that she dated and broke up with Baek, who is 30 years her senior, in 2013. In 2022, she published an essay containing intimate personal stories about her relationship and breakup with Baek. Baek’s side filed a lawsuit, claiming that A violated an agreement in which she promised not to disclose matters concerning him.
In May of last year, the first trial partially accepted Baek’s claims. At that time, the court ordered the publisher not to issue or print the book without deleting certain parts and instructed that already distributed copies be recalled and destroyed. The publisher CEO Seo appealed the court’s decision.
