Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital Joins 'Lunchbox Sharing Project' to Support Dinner for Homeless People

3 Million KRW Donated to Catholic Gwangju Social Welfare Association

Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital (Director Min Jeong-jun), celebrating its 20th anniversary, is drawing attention by participating in a lunchbox sharing project that supports a meal for homeless people.

Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital announced on the 25th that it recently delivered a sponsorship fund of 3 million won for the ‘One Meal Sharing for the Homeless’ to the Catholic Gwangju Social Welfare Association of the Catholic Archdiocese of Gwangju at the hospital’s 5th-floor meeting room.

The delivery ceremony was attended by Director Min Jeong-jun, Medical Director Kang Ho-cheol, Catholic Gwangju Social Welfare Association Chairman Father Lee Bong-moon, and Policy Resource Development Team Manager Park Mi-ok, among others.

The sponsorship fund will be used to purchase ingredients and side dishes necessary for preparing lunchboxes delivered to the homeless.

The Catholic Gwangju Social Welfare Association has been supporting a meal for the homeless since 2013. Due to the suspension of meal service centers amid the COVID-19 pandemic, they provide dinner lunchboxes through an outreach method by directly visiting the field.

Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital and the Catholic Archdiocese of Gwangju signed a ‘Business Agreement for Supporting Marginalized Neighbors’ in January last year and have been carrying out various programs.

Father Lee Bong-moon, Chairman of the Catholic Gwangju Social Welfare Association, said, “Thanks to the support of many organizations and individuals, including Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital, we are conducting programs such as providing dinner lunchboxes, health checks, and helping people return to daily life in society. We are grateful for the support.”

Director Min Jeong-jun of Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital said, “We feel grateful that we can offer help,” adding, “As Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, we will actively carry out support projects for marginalized groups in medical blind spots.”
