'Lamborghini Unveils World's First PHEV Urus with Combined 800 Horsepower'

On the 25th (local time), Lamborghini unveiled the brand's first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sports utility vehicle (SUV), the Urus SE, for the first time in the world at a pre-event of the Beijing Motor Show.

The Urus SE is equipped with a powertrain producing a combined maximum output of over 800 horsepower and can travel more than 60 km in electric-only mode. With a completely new design, it improves aerodynamic efficiency compared to the previous model and reduces exhaust emissions by 80% compared to the existing model.

The Urus SE features a 4.0L V8 twin-turbo engine delivering a maximum output of 620 horsepower (456 kW) and a peak torque of 800 Nm. This engine is harmonized with an electric motor producing 192 horsepower (141 kW) and 483 Nm of torque. The combined maximum output exceeds 800 horsepower. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds.

Lamborghini emphasized sportiness and muscularity in the exterior design of the Urus SE. It is equipped with a new hood design, headlight clusters featuring matrix LED technology, a light signature inspired by the bull’s tail, and new bumpers and front grille. A large screen and human-machine interface provide a user-friendly experience.

With the launch of the Urus SE, Lamborghini has reduced exhaust emissions by 80% compared to the previous model. Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman of Lamborghini, said, "With the launch of the Urus SE, Lamborghini will take a step further into the future according to the electrification roadmap strategy 'Direzione Cor Tauri (Towards the Heart of the Bull)."

In January, Lamborghini announced detailed carbon neutrality goals to be achieved by 2030. Through the largest investment in the brand’s history, it plans to electrify existing models and achieve carbon neutrality in production facilities. The goal is to reduce the company’s total carbon emissions per vehicle by 40% compared to 2021 by 2030.
