Genesis unveiled the high-performance electrified G80 concept car for the first time in the world at the Beijing Motor Show in China. This model is a concept car applied with the 'Genesis Magma' program, which demonstrates the brand's intention to expand into the high-performance segment, and it is scheduled for mass production in the near future.
On the 25th (local time), Genesis showcased the G80 electrified concept car featuring the new high-performance program 'Genesis Magma' at the 2024 Beijing International Motor Show held at the China International Exhibition Center Shunyi Hall. At the same time, Genesis also unveiled the facelifted G80 electrified model.
Genesis introduced the new high-performance program 'Magma,' first revealed in New York last March, to the Chinese market on this day. The Magma program represents a new concept high-performance vehicle that combines cutting-edge technology with sporty design, going beyond mere vehicle performance.
In particular, the G80 electrified Magma concept model introduced in China features a new color called 'Acme Blue.' Lee Sang-yeop, Vice President in charge of design, explained, "It is inspired by the phenomenon where the hottest fire burns blue, representing the will and passion for creating Genesis high-performance vehicles."
The G80 electrified Magma concept is optimized for dynamic sports driving with an overall wider and lower body. It applies a new design for the front grille and rear bumper, and the size of the fenders has been increased to emphasize a strong presence.

Additionally, the facelifted G80 electrified model unveiled on the same day is a model released three years after its first debut at the 2021 Shanghai Motor Show. While inheriting the dynamic yet elegant style of the existing G80 electrified model, the details of key design elements such as the bumper and lamps have been enhanced to elevate sophistication.
Notably, a new exterior color called 'Vision Blue,' inspired by the Chinese idiom 'Cheongchureoram (靑出於藍),' was introduced. A Genesis official explained that Vision Blue is a China-market-exclusive color aimed at Chinese customers who lead change and innovation and pursue a better future.
The facelifted G80 electrified model improves ride comfort and quietness by reducing driving vibrations and interior noise compared to the previous model. Equipped with a 4th-generation battery, it increases the driving range per charge, securing product competitiveness befitting a luxury large electrified sedan. Detailed specifications such as driving range will be disclosed after certification in each country.
