Korea-Japan Arirang Yacht Race, May 3-6, Long Distance from Suyeong Bay to Fukuoka Hakata Port
Busan City will hold the '2024 Asia Sailing Festival' from April 25 to May 6.
Organized to revitalize marine leisure tourism and expand the yacht culture base in Busan, this event is hosted by Busan City and organized by the Busan Yacht Association.
The festival consists of the main event, the 'Busan Super Cup International Yacht Race' (April 25?28), and the side event, the 'Korea-Japan Arirang Yacht Race' (May 3?6), which will be held sequentially over approximately three weeks.
Celebrating its 19th edition this year, the 'Busan Super Cup International Yacht Race' is the oldest cruiser yacht competition in Korea. This year, 38 teams (boats) with about 280 athletes from 9 countries will compete in intense races at the Suyeongman Yacht Stadium.
Starting with pre-registration on April 25, competitions for two categories will be held over three days from April 26 to 28.
Notably, this year’s event will feature the return of the 'Korea-Japan Arirang Yacht Race,' which was suspended due to COVID-19. With 29 teams (boats) and about 250 athletes participating, a long-distance sailing race will take place from Suyeongman to Hakata Port in Fukuoka on May 4 and 5.
Park Geun-rok, Director of the Tourism MICE Bureau of Busan City, stated, “The Asia Sailing Festival is the largest celebration for yacht enthusiasts, encompassing various yacht-related competitions. Through continuous hosting of international competitions, we will strive to not only foster high-level athletes and promote friendship between countries but also enhance Busan’s status as a marine tourism city.”
