Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun to Hold 'Discussion with Citizens While Reading Books' on the 20th of Next Month

A discussion event where Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun reads a book and talks with citizens will be held.

The Suwon City government announced on the 25th that Mayor Lee Jae-jun will read "The World of Children" and hold a free discussion based on the book content at the "Chatting with the Mayor" event on May 20th at 3 p.m. in the Ilwol Sumokwon Forest Garden.

Under the theme "Dreaming of a City Where Children Are Happy," "Chatting with the Mayor" is a discussion meeting where Mayor Lee Jae-jun and citizens gather in one place to talk about memorable passages from the book and related experiences. Citizens' opinions on creating a child-friendly city will also be heard.

Suwon City will recruit 30 to 40 citizens to participate in the discussion from the 25th of this month until the 2nd of next month. Anyone can participate, and applications can be submitted through the Saebit Toktok application board.

"The World of Children" is an essay written by the author (Kim So-young), who runs a reading classroom and has carefully observed and recorded the unique thoughts and behaviors of children over a long period of time. It was selected as "Asia's Book of the Year" at the 2022 Asia Book Awards.

A Suwon City official said, "We created a space where people can freely communicate using a book that contains content that many can relate to, in order to get closer to citizens and listen to various stories," adding, "In celebration of Family Month, we will listen to citizens' stories and think together about how to make a city where children are happy."
