Jungnang-gu Office, Jungnang Police Station, and Resident Groups Collaborate to Create a Pleasant Plaza Environment
Evaluation Meeting of Myeonmok Station Plaza Public-Private Council Held on the 17th to Share Activity Status and Gather Resident Feedback
Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is making efforts to keep Myeonmok Station Plaza, which transformed into a community resting place last year, pleasant and safe.
The district designated Myeonmok Station Plaza as a no-alcohol zone and reorganized it as a resting place for residents last year, after the facility had become outdated and some users’ disorderly behavior caused inconvenience to residents. Since then, a public-private council has been formed involving Jungnang-gu Office, Jungnang Police Station, and resident organizations to maintain the plaza’s cleanliness and safety.
Jungnang-gu Office has assigned dedicated staff at Myeonmok Station Plaza to discourage drinking and supports the public health center’s alcohol prohibition enforcement. Local residents regularly conduct patrols and cleaning activities to help create a safe and clean plaza. Additionally, police officers from Jungnang Police Station are stationed at the plaza’s companion center to maintain order and strengthen security.
On the 17th, an “Evaluation Meeting on the Operation of the Myeonmok Station Plaza Public-Private Council” was held to explore the direction of the council’s operation.
At the meeting, the council’s operational direction and patrol activities were shared, and time was allocated to gather residents’ opinions to encourage active cooperation regarding changes in the plaza. Residents expressed views such as “The plaza shows positive changes like a more open environment and a decrease in intoxicated individuals,” and “It would be great if an environment where children can freely run and play is created.”
The meeting also included explanations from Jungnang Police Station about the plaza’s security status and minor crimes, as well as a presentation on future plans to develop Myeonmok Station Plaza into a cultural and artistic plaza.
District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi stated, “We will continuously manage and cultivate Myeonmok Station Plaza so that it becomes a space of rest and culture loved by residents,” and added, “We ask for the active cooperation of residents and related organizations.”
