Kim Dong-yeon Discusses Cooperation with Liaoning Party Secretary in China: "Looking Forward to a New Partnership"

Gyeonggi Province is strengthening cooperation with Liaoning Province, China.


On the 24th, Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, met with Hao Feng, Party Secretary of Liaoning Province, at Dodamso (the former Gyeonggi Governor’s official residence) to promise a new leap in Gyeonggi-Liaoning cooperation and to reinforce practical collaboration in key areas.


Governor Kim had previously visited Liaoning Province in October last year to discuss cooperation plans between the two regions and requested Hao Feng’s visit to Gyeonggi Province.


Governor Kim expressed, "I am truly glad to see you again. Although it has only been six months since our first meeting, I said we had become friends, and meeting like this today deepens our friendship and strengthens the relationship between Gyeonggi Province and Liaoning Province. I hope we maintain this friendship for a long time and accomplish greater things for Korea and China," showing his delight.


He added, "I highly appreciate the progress made on the matters we discussed six months ago. I look forward to Gyeonggi Province and Liaoning Province establishing a deeper cooperative relationship through the advanced business agreement we are signing today."

In response, Party Secretary Hao Feng said, "This is my first visit in over ten years as Party Secretary of Liaoning Province. I was deeply moved by the warm hospitality," and added, "I hope to strengthen the 31 years of achievements between Liaoning Province and Gyeonggi Province and advance to the next stage of cooperation in economy, science, trade, industry, as well as cultural and human exchanges."


He also officially invited Governor Kim to the Summer Davos Forum scheduled to be held in June in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, China, and the Liaoning Trade and Investment Expo in September, emphasizing, "I sincerely hope you will attend."


On this day, the two signed the ‘Gyeonggi Province-Liaoning Province Exchange and Cooperation Deepening Agreement,’ which includes ▲ improving the business environment for companies and expanding investment and corporate cooperation ▲ strengthening exchanges and cooperation between companies and institutions in industries such as manufacturing, scientific and technological innovation, and modern agriculture ▲ expanding cultural, sports, tourism, and educational exchanges.


Gyeonggi Province established a sisterhood relationship with Liaoning Province in 1993, the year following the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and China. Since then, it has actively continued exchange activities, including setting up the Gyeonggi Business Center (GBC) in Shenyang to support export marketing for small and medium-sized enterprises in Gyeonggi, holding tourism cooperation exchange meetings, inviting the Liaoning Ballet troupe for performances, and mutual dispatch of exchange officials.
