Application and Notification of Decision for Jeonse Fraud Victims to Be Conducted Online

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 24th that it will operate the "Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Management System," which allows victims of jeonse fraud to apply for victim status online.

Application and Notification of Decision for Jeonse Fraud Victims to Be Conducted Online

Until now, when applying for victim status for jeonse fraud or urgent suspension or postponement of auctions and public sales, applicants had to prepare related documents and visit the metropolitan local government office. The process involved filling out application forms according to relevant special laws and submitting documents such as the lease contract and auction/public sale notification.

To resolve these inconveniences, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has been developing the support management system since October last year. Starting from the 25th, applicants can enter details of the jeonse fraud and the landlord’s fraudulent behavior on the website, and electronically upload necessary documents such as copies of the lease contract and auction/public sale notifications to verify the victim status.

Applicants can receive progress updates via text messages and check the status anytime. Notifications and decisions regarding the determination of jeonse fraud victims can also be printed directly.

The Ministry provides a "User Manual" on the website to help users easily follow the process and operates a call center where professional counselors offer guidance. Additionally, applicants can still submit applications in person and receive results via registered mail as per the existing method.

Park Byeong-seok, head of the Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Team at the Ministry, said, "The Jeonse Fraud Victim Support Management System enables prompt victim determination and support," adding, "We will do our best to alleviate housing insecurity for victims of jeonse fraud and provide meticulous support."
