Feasibility Study for Environmental Facility Installation and Performance Improvement Project at Power Plants in Four Regions
Doosan Enerbility is advancing a modernization project in Kazakhstan to improve the performance of aging power plants and establish environmental facilities.
Doosan Enerbility announced on the 24th that it signed an 'MOU for the Performance Improvement Project of Aging Power Plants' with the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and KEPCO KPS. The signing ceremony held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, was attended by Sungat Yesimkhanov, Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Kim Hong-yeon, President of KEPCO KPS, and Kim Jeong-gwan, Head of Marketing Division at Doosan Enerbility.
Through this agreement, Doosan Enerbility and KEPCO KPS plan to promote environmental facility construction and power plant performance improvement projects based on feasibility studies of power plants in Almaty, Pavlodar, Astana, and Topar in Kazakhstan.
Kim Jeong-gwan, Head of Doosan Enerbility Division, stated, "The power plant environmental facilities and performance improvement technologies possessed by Doosan Enerbility are the optimal solutions that align with the Kazakhstan government's efforts to reduce air pollution," adding, "We will strive to contribute to the export of eco-friendly power generation projects together with KEPCO KPS through this agreement."
Last year, Doosan Enerbility won a contract worth 1.15 trillion KRW for a combined cycle power plant construction project in the southern city of Shymkent, Kazakhstan. In 2015, it secured a 340 billion KRW contract for the 310MW Karabatan combined cycle power plant, which was successfully completed in 2020.
