Jeonnam Province Supports Operation of Customized Health Management Service 'Fitness Certification Center'

Jeonnam Province announced on the 24th that it will support the operation of the National Fitness 100 Fitness Certification Centers so that all residents can use customized health management services.

The National Fitness 100 Fitness Certification Centers are designated fitness certification institutions by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism that scientifically measure and evaluate an individual's fitness level and provide exercise counseling and prescriptions.

Jeonnam Province Supports Operation of Customized Health Management Service 'Fitness Certification Center'

Currently, there are seven fitness certification centers operating in the province: Mokpo International Football Center, Suncheon Culture and Health Center Swimming Pool, Dongshin University Exercise Prescription Center, Bandabi Sports Center in Gokseong County, Sehan University Welfare Hall, Mokpo University Multipurpose Auditorium, and Shinan County Sports Complex.

Anyone aged 11 or older can use the service for free by signing up on the National Fitness 100 website and making a reservation before visiting.

At the fitness certification centers, visitors can receive fitness assessments by bringing an ID and wearing exercise clothes. For adults aged 19 to 64, the following are measured: muscular strength (relative grip strength), muscular endurance (cross sit-ups), cardiopulmonary endurance (one of shuttle run, treadmill, or step test), flexibility (sit and reach), agility (shuttle run), and explosive power (standing long jump). The fitness assessment takes about 30 minutes.

Based on the fitness assessment results, visitors receive a nationally certified certificate or participation certificate and can get exercise prescriptions tailored to their fitness level from an exercise prescription specialist. Various fitness improvement classes such as stretching and Pilates are also offered free of charge throughout the entire program.

Last year, about 19,000 people received fitness assessments in the province.

By participating in various sports activities at the fitness certification centers, users can accumulate sports activity incentives according to the accumulation criteria. Sports activity incentives can be accumulated up to a maximum of 50,000 points annually.

Fitness assessments earn 3,000 points per session (twice a year), and participation in fitness improvement classes earns 1,000 points per session (up to 40 sessions per year). Accumulated incentives can be exchanged for sports gift certificates through the Zero Pay app ‘Gmap’ and used at affiliated stores nationwide, including sports facilities, sports goods stores, and pharmacies.

Kang In-jung, Director of the Sports Industry Division of Jeonnam Province, said, “If you want to start exercising in the warm spring season, I recommend getting an exercise prescription tailored to you at a nearby fitness certification center,” and added, “We will strive to support residents to continuously participate in various sports activities.”
