Peace of Mind and Happiness: Yeondeung Cultural Festival Held
The Yeondeung Cultural Festival Committee in Hamyang, Gyeongnam, will celebrate Buddha's Birthday in the year 2568 of the Buddhist calendar by illuminating the world with light to dispel ignorance and enlighten wisdom. The festival will be held on the 30th at 6 PM on the Saturday stage at Sangnim Park.
This Yeondeung Cultural Festival is sponsored by Hamyang County, Hamyang County Council, Haeinsa Temple, Jogye Order Hamyang Propagation Society, Hamyang County Government Buddhist Officials Association, Hamyang Buddhist Volunteer Society, and Haeinsa Hamyang Buddhist University Alumni Association, and is organized by the Hamyang Buddhist Federation of Believers.
Starting with a pre-event ceremony featuring local cultural and artistic talents, the main event will include the lighting ceremony led by the festival chairman, Monk Doto, congratulatory speeches by officials, and a Dharma talk by Venerable Haeil, the head monk of Haeinsa Temple.
Notably, national singer Jang Sa-ik will make a special guest appearance to perform a celebratory song, adding fragrance and brilliance to the Yeondeung Cultural Festival.
After the lighting ceremony, a lantern parade illuminating the entire city will take place, conveying messages of harmony, mutual development, and happiness among the residents. The festival expects active participation from many citizens.
