A female train operator driving the Daejeon Urban Railway has emerged for the first time in 15 years.
According to Daejeon Transportation Corporation on the 23rd, new female train operator Lee Subin (25) completed her probation period and began operating the Daejeon Urban Railway Line 1 section starting from the 22nd.
Currently, 77 train operators are deployed on the Panam to Banseok section at Daejeon Transportation Corporation, and Lee is the only female operator. The emergence of a female train operator is the first in 15 years since 2009.
Lee, who spent her school years in Wonju, entered a university in Daejeon majoring in Railway Convergence Studies and dreamed of joining the corporation while receiving license training at Daejeon Transportation Corporation.
Influenced by her father, who has worked in vehicle-related fields since she was young, she showed great interest in machinery and driving. During her probation period, she skillfully learned driving techniques from senior operators and brought bright energy to the organization, leading the atmosphere.
Lee said, “During the training period, I was not nervous because I drove together with senior operators, but today, driving alone, I felt a bit nervous. However, while sitting in the driver's seat inside the train, I plan to operate with a sense of mission and responsibility, knowing that the safety of the passengers is entirely my responsibility.”
She added, “I understand that Daejeon Transportation Corporation has operated accident-free for 18 years, and I will also do my best to safely deliver passengers to their destinations.”
