The Citizen Design Group will play a role in reorganizing the existing city symbols that have lost their functionality after more than 20 years and developing a future-oriented representative image of the city. A total of 83 people applied for the Citizen Design Group recruited in January, and 50 selected through evaluation plan to be active until the end of the year.

The Citizen Design Group will analyze various local issues and propose urban designs that reflect citizen-centered solutions and opinions by utilizing public service design techniques. This year's activity theme is in the field of symbol design, including ▲ education related to public design ▲ capacity building such as workshops ▲ talk concerts ▲ social network service (SNS) promotional activities and performance sharing sessions.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin, and the Citizen Design Group. The event included an orientation and appointment ceremony to help understand future activities, as well as team meetings.

Mayor Lee Sang-il said at the inauguration ceremony, "It has become difficult to embody the vision of Yongin, which has rapidly emerged as a semiconductor city, with the existing symbols, so there is a need to create symbols that fit this." He added, "I hope you will provide fresh ideas to upgrade the city's brand image."
