Invitation of Japanese Amateur Athletes... Simultaneous Interpretation at Opening Ceremony
Diverse Post-Ceremony Events Including Drone Show and Namjin Concert
The '2024 National Sports for All Festival,' the largest celebration for amateur athletes nationwide, will be held in Ulsan from the 25th to the 28th.
The festival will take place across 60 venues with competitions in 41 sports, featuring around 20,000 amateur athletes from 17 cities and provinces across the country. It is expected that a total of approximately 60,000 people, including athletes' families and spectators, will attend the festival.
In particular, to promote Korea-Japan sports exchange, 156 Japanese amateur athletes will participate in 9 sports such as badminton and basketball, sharing time with domestic athletes to foster sports exchange and friendship.
The opening ceremony, marking the start of the four-day event, will be held at 5:30 PM on the 26th at the Ulsan Sports Complex.
The ceremony is themed "Sports Day at Ulsan Spring Picnic," where mats and tents will be set up on the green grass of the sports complex, creating an atmosphere for amateur athletes nationwide to enjoy like a spring picnic.
The event will proceed with pre-ceremony public events, the official ceremony, and post-ceremony public events. The pre-ceremony public events include "Ulsan Treasure Hunt," "My Love Ulsan," "Dynamic Ulsan," and "My Heart Beats! Ulsan." The "Ulsan Treasure Hunt" evokes retro feelings by allowing participants to reminisce about childhood spring picnic memories while searching for treasures.
"My Love Ulsan" is a healthy sports performance involving three generations (elderly, adults, and children), conveying the festival’s core message of promoting sports for all to improve the quality of life and foster a healthy Korea.
The official ceremony will begin at 6:30 PM with the opening declaration, athlete entrance, opening declaration again, athlete pledge, and theme performances in sequence.
The theme performances include "Exercise is Hard!," "Bicycle of Memories," and "Unfold! Sports for All." Following the theme performances, a drone show will entertain the audience, and the event finale will also be adorned by a drone show.
The post-ceremony public event features a solo concert by singer Nam Jin, hosted by Ulsan ambassador and broadcaster Lee Yong-sik, lasting 90 minutes.
To assist the Japanese amateur athletes participating in the Korea-Japan sports exchange, Ulsan City will provide real-time simultaneous interpretation for the first time at the festival’s opening ceremony. Additionally, preparations are thoroughly underway for safety at venues and facilities, emergency medical services, transportation, and volunteer operations.
For the safety of the approximately 12,000 spectators attending the opening ceremony, safety insurance has been secured for attendees, performers, and staff. Pre-event safety inspections of stage equipment have been completed, and joint safety training involving fire and police officials has been conducted for safety management personnel.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "We have prioritized safety in preparing the festival so that all citizens can comfortably enjoy the event organized by Ulsan City," adding, "We hope this will be a precious occasion for amateur athletes from across the country who have come to Ulsan for a spring picnic to strengthen unity, harmony, and friendship."
The closing ceremony will be held at 4 PM on the 28th at the Ulsan Innovation City Complex Innovation Center.
