Reportedly Preparing to Move
Parents' Anxiety Grows, Patrols Strengthened
In an apartment complex in Guro-gu, Seoul, a family of elementary school boys suspected of sexually harassing female students by saying "Let's have sexual relations" is reportedly preparing to move. Earlier, the Guro Police Station in Seoul announced on the 23rd that they had received a report on the 15th of last month that three elementary school boys forcibly harassed three lower-grade female students in an apartment complex in Guro-gu.
Three boys, including a boy identified as A, estimated to be in the 5th or 6th grade of elementary school, approached younger female students and made statements such as "Let's play sexual games" and "I will give you money," and are reported to have committed the harassment.
As the controversy over the incident grew, Newsis reported on the same day that A's parents have put their house on the market and are preparing to move. Citing a statement from the head of a nearby academy in the apartment complex, the media reported, "The family of the perpetrator has put the house up for sale, but they have not moved out yet." Due to increasing anxiety among parents with children, police patrols around the complex have also been strengthened.
Meanwhile, the incident became known after the apartment complex residents' representative meeting posted a notice directly. The representative meeting stated, "We are informing you of the following unfortunate incident to prevent accidents and request joint response."
The controversy also grew among netizens who learned of the incident. There were heated voices such as "How can we raise children when this is so scary," "What kind of education did they receive to do such things," and "The juvenile offender system should be abolished."
