Imation Launches New Storage Device 'Z981'... "Optimized for High-Performance Work and High-Spec Games"

Global IT brand imation announced on the 23rd the launch of its new solid-state drive (SSD) product, the 'Z981'. An SSD refers to a storage device based on semiconductor memory.

The Z981 is an NVME SSD applying the next-generation PCIe 4.0 interface. It supports a computing environment optimized for high-performance tasks and high-spec games. It features excellent performance and a reasonable price range. The capacity is available in three configurations: 512 gigabytes (GB), 1 terabyte (TB), and 2TB.

In particular, this product compensates for the slow data processing speed, a weakness of the existing DRAM-less SSDs. The company stated, "It boasts performance levels surpassing those of DRAM-equipped products."

Based on the 2TB capacity, it delivers excellent performance with a maximum read speed of 7400MB/s and a maximum write speed of 6400MB/s, and it is available at a more affordable price than DRAM-equipped products of the same class.

Imation collaborates with global SSD manufacturer Phison to provide a free warranty period of up to 5 years from the date of first purchase. The Z981 secures durability and reliability with an MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) of 1.5 million hours and a maximum 1200TBW (TeraBytes Written) based on the 2TB capacity.

It supports 'S.M.A.R.T' for self-diagnosing product status, 'TRIM' which preemptively removes unnecessary memory cells, error correction code technology 'ECC', 'Wear Leveling' to enhance product durability and safety, 'Over-Provision' for efficient allocation of SSD storage space, and 'Thermal Throttling' to maintain a certain temperature of the SSD.

Imation simultaneously launched the Z981 on the international collection commerce platform FUNSHOP. A commemorative gift event will be held until the 30th. The gift is a heat sink that supports the cooling function of the SSD. It is provided exclusively to customers who purchase the Z981 on FUNSHOP.
