The meeting was organized with the purpose of taking the lead in preventing damage and making arrests through close cooperation between institutions.

They also reflected on the seriousness of the increasing cases of voice phishing, such as impersonation of institutions, loan fraud, and messenger phishing impersonating children, as well as the importance of prevention.

Financial institutions will strengthen the 112 reporting system immediately if customers withdraw more than 5 million won in cash or if their behavior seems suspicious. They also pledged cooperation in sending cautionary text messages.

Park Woong, chief of Hwasun Police Station, said, “Due to the diversification of voice phishing methods, there are limits to police investigations alone,” adding, “The police and financial institutions will build a stronger cooperative system to take the lead in preventing damage.”
