About 300 people, including Cheon Bok-seong, head of the Saemaeul Seongbuk-gu branch, Saemaeul disinfection volunteers, and officials from Seongbuk-gu Office and the public health center, attended the launch ceremony to inspect disinfection equipment in advance and conduct a demonstration disinfection at Seongbukcheon Stream.

After the launch ceremony, Mayor Lee Seung-ro and the Saemaeul disinfection volunteer group carried out river cleanup activities around Seongbukcheon Stream, starting with throwing EM (Effective Microorganisms) mud balls, removing moss, and picking up trash.

Mayor Lee Seung-ro said, “I sincerely thank the Saemaeul disinfection volunteer corps who take the lead every year to protect the health of residents even in the heat,” and added, “As abnormal high-temperature phenomena are expected again this year, I ask the members to prioritize their health and safety and carry out disinfection activities diligently.”

Ryu Bok-su, chairman of the Saemaeul Leaders Seongbuk-gu Council, said, “The Saemaeul organization has autonomously formed the Saemaeul disinfection volunteer corps every year and has been dedicated to disinfection activities with the determination that ‘We protect our Seongbuk-gu,’” and pledged, “This year as well, with a sense of mission to take responsibility for residents’ health, more active activities will greatly contribute to disease prevention and health promotion for Seongbuk-gu residents.”
