Chungnam Province, KAIST, and Hongseong County Sign Agreement to Establish Korea Science Academy Naepo Campus
In 2028, the KAIST-affiliated Korea Science Academy campus will be established in Naepo New Town, Chungnam.
On the 23rd, Governor Kim Tae-heum signed a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of the Korea Science Academy Naepo Campus with KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung and Hongseong County Mayor Lee Yong-rok.
According to the agreement, 84.1 billion KRW will be invested by 2028 to establish the gifted school Naepo campus.
The province and Hongseong County will provide administrative and financial support for the early establishment of the Naepo campus. KAIST will nurture talents in the semiconductor and advanced mobility fields through the operation of the Naepo campus.
Governor Kim said, "We will ensure the design costs are reflected in next year's government budget and provide full support so that the school can open in 2028," adding, "We will also create an industry-academia-research ecosystem linked with companies that leads to education, research, and employment or entrepreneurship."
