Gwangju University signed a memorandum of understanding for educational cooperation with Gulistan State University in Syrdarya Province, Uzbekistan, on the 20th to promote global education.
On this day, Kurzhiev Mashin Tajievich, President of Gulistan State University, stated, "There is a need to establish a Korean Language Education Center for the students of Gulistan State University and Syrdarya Province who wish to study in Korea. We also plan to open a Korean Language Department at Gulistan State University in the future," adding, "We hope for active educational cooperation with Gwangju University."
In response, Kim Dong-jin, President of Gwangju University, said, "Gwangju University has strengths in accounting, business, and design, which are the major fields of study at Gulistan State University, and we have established and operate a Korean language school in Kyrgyzstan. Based on this, we will actively promote practical exchanges to establish a Korean Language Education Center at Gulistan State University and to foster global educational cooperation."
Gulistan State University was established in 1965 based on the Syrdarya Province State Pedagogical Research Institute in Uzbekistan, and currently has about 15,000 students enrolled in 30 departments and 54 majors.
