The National Gwangju Science Museum has emerged as a 'hot place.' Over 15,000 visitors came just last weekend. The free admission event for the permanent exhibition halls, held in celebration of Science Month in April and Family Month in May, proved to be a hit.
As a public institution, the National Gwangju Science Museum is conducting a free admission event for its permanent exhibition halls (Main Building, Children's Science Hall, Artificial Intelligence Hall) to provide opportunities for science experiences as part of realizing social value.
The event continues from Science Day (April 19?21) to Children's Day celebrations (May 4?6), and extends through the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement Memorial Day, reflecting the historical significance of the Gwangju region.
The effect was clear. On Science Day alone, about 7,800 visitors came to the science museum, creating a bustling scene. This marked the highest number of visitors in April over the past 11 years since the museum's opening, and was explained to be five times the number compared to the previous weekend.
Researcher Jeong Se-hwan said on the 23rd, “Through the free admission event last weekend, more citizens than expected visited the science museum. Group visitors and family units were concentrated, and even during the busiest autumn season, such a level of visitor turnout is rare. We will continue to introduce new events to offer citizens various attractions and entertainment, striving to improve customer service and satisfaction.”
