Haenam-gun Completes Resource Circulation Complex Center to Establish Resource Circulation Hub

Anyone Can Easily and Enjoyably Participate in Resource Circulation... Operated as a Standard Model for Resource Circulation

Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do has started operating the Resource Circulation Complex Center, which will serve as a hub for a resident-participatory resource circulation system.

According to the county on the 23rd, the Resource Circulation Complex Center located in Haeri, Haenam-eup was newly constructed with three floors above ground and an area of 1,114㎡ through the Smart Green City contest project, a government Green New Deal initiative, in 2020.

The first floor of the center houses a recycling exchange center and a refill shop, the second floor includes an education room, a recycling sharing space, a shared goods rental center, and a planned exhibition space.

On the third floor, a media facade and an MR-based immersive experience education room were created so that children and adolescents can easily learn the importance of resource circulation and the environment. It also features a resting area where residents can relax while enjoying beverages using resource circulation points.

The Resource Circulation Complex Center prohibits the bringing in and use of disposable products within the building, and all facilities in the center can be conveniently used by residents through the ‘Ttangkkeut Huimangi’ points, a resident-participatory resource circulation project.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for the 16th of next month, and other facilities will begin operation sequentially as programs for visitors are completed.

Haenam-gun is accelerating the establishment of a local resource circulation system by investing a total project cost of 9.3 billion KRW to promote the Smart Green City project called ‘Smart Resource Circulation Village,’ completing the installation of resource circulation facilities, building an integrated service platform, and finishing the construction of the Resource Circulation Complex Center.

Thirty unmanned collection machines for transparent PET bottles and cans have been installed in the Haenam-eup urban area, and four mini flower beds and community gardens have been created in habitual illegal dumping areas, which are provided as experiential learning sites for children in local daycare centers.

Additionally, an integrated resource circulation platform has been established on the Sotongnet communication network, allowing residents to check their participation status in resource circulation projects as well as carbon and greenhouse gas reduction amounts. The platform also enables online disposal of large waste items.

In the future, in addition to resource circulation projects through base collection centers set up at eup and myeon offices, a mobile collection service using electric buses will be operated, along with outreach resource circulation education programs.

County Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan stated, “Since being selected for the contest project, the resource circulation project has steadily laid the foundation and has made significant progress with the completion of this Resource Circulation Complex Center. We expect Haenam-gun to play a pivotal role in practicing carbon neutrality as the number one place for resource circulation and to become a hub where all residents incorporate resource circulation into their daily lives.”

Meanwhile, to use the Haenam Resource Circulation Complex Center, one must register as a member of the Haenam-gun Sotongnet and participate in the resource circulation project ‘Ttangkkeut Huimangi.’
