KARI introduced the Family Companies system in 2013 to enhance the technological capabilities of domestic aerospace small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies, support their overseas expansion, and promote commercialization. The number of Family Companies increased from 24 last year to 37 this year.
At the meeting, more than 70 people, including executives and employees from 37 KARI Family Companies such as Telepix, Contec, and Ferris Aerospace, as well as KARI corporate support experts, attended.
During the meeting, KARI awarded certificates and plaques to the 'KARI Family Companies,' introduced KARI's support programs for SMEs and Family Companies, listened to the companies' difficulties, and provided education on space industry investment trends to support companies' overseas expansion. To prevent Family Companies from suffering damage due to illegal cyberattacks such as hacking, cybersecurity education was also conducted in cooperation with the National Intelligence Service.
Lee Sang-ryul, Director of KARI, stated, "The creation and expansion of a self-sustaining ecosystem led by the private sector in the aerospace field is becoming increasingly important. KARI will cooperate and support more closely so that Family Companies can become key players leading new changes such as New Space and advanced air mobility activation."
