On the 19th, public, private, academic, and research stakeholders are taking a commemorative photo at the '1st Marine Leisure Industry Development Public-Private-Academic-Research Governance' held at BEXCO, Busan.
Since its first event in 2014, the 'Busan International Boat Show,' now in its 10th edition this year, showcased a variety of yachts and boats along with eco-friendly marine leisure products and new technologies.
Domestic and international buyers also visited the exhibition site and confirmed the excellence of domestic technology through consultations with Korean boat and marine leisure manufacturers.

Lee Young-il, Director of the Marine Leisure Equipment Industry Association, stated, “This year’s governance, as a consultative body, will be an important starting point for the marine leisure industry sector, and let us unite our efforts for the marine leisure industry, which is a future growth engine of the Republic of Korea. We will work together to realize the high future value of the related industries.”
A representative from the Korea Coast Guard’s Water Leisure Division said, “It was a meaningful occasion to hear many opinions from the industry. We will actively review any suggestions for future industrial development.”
A representative from the Prime Minister’s Regulatory Innovation Promotion Team said, “The purpose of the Regulatory Innovation Promotion Team is to identify and improve obstacles to the development of our country’s industries and difficulties encountered in promoting the growth of companies and industries. On January 9, the 'Marine Leisure Tourism Promotion Act' passed the National Assembly plenary session. This legislative passage is expected to enable greater growth in the marine leisure tourism industry, which has faced many challenges until now.” He added, “With the hosting of the public-private-academic-research governance for the development of the marine leisure industry, the marine leisure industry is expected to emerge as a new growth industry. We will thoroughly review the issues raised at today’s forum and spare no support to revitalize Korea’s marine leisure industry. We will seek assistance from relevant ministries to address institutional improvements, regulations, and solutions for the marine leisure industry, which has faced many difficulties.”
