The Supreme Prosecutors' Office: "We Will Conduct Strict Inspections"
A rookie prosecutor at the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office has been booked on charges of assaulting a police officer while intoxicated.
According to the legal community and police on the 23rd, the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul booked Prosecutor A, who belongs to the trial department of the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, on charges of obstructing official duties.
Prosecutor A is accused of lying down at a playground located in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, around 2 a.m. on the 21st while intoxicated, and punching a police officer who arrived in response to a report (obstruction of official duties).
It was also investigated that Prosecutor A resisted and used physical force against the police officers even after being taken to the police station. Prosecutor A is known to have passed the bar exam last year and was commissioned.
An official from the Supreme Prosecutors' Office said, "We plan to conduct a swift and strict inspection and take appropriate disciplinary action."
