Cybersecurity specialist company Genian announced on the 23rd that it has supplied an EDR (Endpoint Detection & Response) solution to Ewha Womans University Medical Center.
Hacking attacks targeting medical institutions have been increasing every year. According to data from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Korea Social Security Information Service, Korea Internet & Security Agency, and Ministry of Education, there were 74 cyber intrusion incidents at medical institutions over the three years from February 2020 to 2023.
There is a concern that sensitive patient information could be leaked due to cyberattacks, so caution is necessary. As digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data are introduced into medical systems, the demand for advanced security is expanding.
To provide safe medical services to patients, Ewha Womans University Medical Center introduced a network security solution last year as part of its intelligent medical service project. This year, it decided to adopt an EDR solution to respond to increasingly sophisticated cybersecurity threats. The product received positive evaluations in several areas, including ▲threat visibility across network, logs, and endpoints ▲rapid and efficient response system to cyber threats ▲integrated management of malware and abnormal behaviors.
Genian’s 'Genian EDR' provides threat detection, analysis, and response functions through continuous monitoring and information collection on endpoints. By monitoring major activities occurring on endpoints, storing them in real time, and analyzing them, it can detect and prevent advanced threats in advance and enable post-incident audit trails.
Genian EDR recorded a 78% market share in the public procurement market in 2023. It has been applied to more than 600,000 agents. In 2022, it was the first domestic and international EDR product to pass the ‘National Intelligence Service Security Compliance Verification System’.
Kim Junhyung, Executive Director of Genian’s Endpoint Security Business Division, said, "We are pleased to provide a secure environment for patients through the supply of the EDR solution," adding, "We will strive to create a trustworthy domestic security environment by securing many customers."
