The "Life's Good Earth Day Commemoration Event" held at the North American headquarters in New Jersey was planned around the themes of environmental protection and carbon neutrality, with participation from about 700 people including LG Electronics customers, local residents, and employees.
First, LG Electronics opened a pollinator garden at the North American headquarters and became the first Korean company to receive wildlife habitat certification from the U.S. National Wildlife Federation (NWF). Through the pollinator garden, where pollinating insects such as bees and butterflies?whose populations have declined due to climate change?can stably inhabit, LG aims to preserve biodiversity and contribute to building a sustainable ecosystem.
A used home appliance collection event was also held for local residents. At the event site, LG Electronics provided free meal coupons to local residents and employees who returned used appliances such as TVs, speakers, and keyboards, enabling community members to conveniently dispose of used appliances and contribute to resource circulation and carbon neutrality.
LG Electronics employees were also given free potted plant bonsais containing their own optimistic messages.
Jung Kyu-hwang, Head of LG Electronics North America, stated, "We will continue to carry out sincere ESG management activities to create a sustainable future together with community members and fulfill our promises to customers."
Meanwhile, the LG Electronics North American headquarters, completed in 2020, is a green campus that integrates eco-friendly products and technologies. It has been recognized for various efforts such as maximizing energy efficiency by applying the Building Energy Management System (BEMS) within the building, and received the highest platinum grade in the international eco-friendly building certification system LEED.
