Domestic Data Industry Market Worth 22 Trillion Won

Daegu City Council member Ha Byeong-mun (People Power Party, Buk-gu 4) will propose measures to lead the data industry during a 5-minute free speech at the 308th extraordinary session held on the 23rd.

On the day, Ha Byeong-mun will point out the importance of data, saying, “Artificial intelligence has reached the realm of creativity, from the AI Go program ‘AlphaGo’ to the video-generating AI ‘Sora,’” and “The reason such AI can evolve is because it continuously learned using data.”

He will continue, “As of 2021, South Korea’s data industry market size is 22.8 trillion won, and data is called the crude oil of the 4th industrial era due to its high added value,” then express regret that “the proportion of companies engaged in the data industry in Daegu ranks fifth nationwide at only 2%.”

Daegu City Council member Ha proposes three measures to foster the data industry in Daegu.

Ha will conclude his remarks by saying, “Since the data industry holds infinite possibilities, Daegu stands on a journey to prepare for the future and grow,” and “I ask Daegu City to seize the opportunities in the data industry well and open the door to new growth.”
