The Department of eSports Industry at Honam University signed a business agreement with Gen.G Global Academy on the 20th to foster professional talent in eSports.
Through this business agreement, both institutions will collaborate on promoting new student recruitment, developing educational curricula, advising on professional talent training curriculum development, promoting and participating in each institution's educational programs, and mutually cooperating to advance the eSports industry.
Established in 2019, Gen.G Global Academy (hereinafter GGA) was founded by the global eSports company Gen.G as a specialized educational institution for nurturing eSports talent.
GGA has systematized a talent development system for the advancement of the eSports industry by dividing program tracks into 'PLAY,' which supports skill improvement or professional debut through game training, and 'LEARN,' which supports university admission and employment through eSports.
The Department of eSports Industry at Honam University was selected in 2023 by the Korea Creative Content Agency as an institution for training professional eSports personnel, laying the foundation to nurture experts in eSports industry job sectors, respond to changes in future industry demands, and expand global exchanges, thereby growing into a core hub of the eSports industry.
So far, through the National High School Championship, Honam University has established a branded tournament, and through on-site event planning and operations such as the Military Personnel Battlegrounds Tournament and BIAF eSports Tournament, students have been enhancing their professional capabilities and engaging in self-directed learning activities.
