7-Day Free Trial Event to Celebrate App Launch
Jaedam Media (CEO Hwang Nam-yong) announced on the 22nd that it has launched the app version of its short and medium-length webtoon service, ‘Jaedam Shorts,’ which can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Store.
‘Jaedam Shorts (shortz)’ is a platform that offers short (short) and completed (-z) webtoons of about one hour in length through a subscription model. Unlike existing webtoon platforms that mainly sell long-form genres serialized weekly by episode, Jaedam Shorts releases pre-produced works of about 16 episodes all at once, allowing users to access all content with a single payment under a subscription system.
After opening the web version last December and focusing on securing content and establishing a stable operating system, the management team is now aiming to expand users and activate the service starting with this app launch. For one month after release, new subscribers who download the Jaedam Shorts app from each store will receive a coupon to enjoy all content free for 7 days. Various promotions offering gifticon coupons are ongoing on Jaedam Shorts’ SNS, and prize events for existing web subscribers and subscribers are also being prepared.
Meanwhile, Jaedam Shorts carefully selects comics and webtoons in a format that can be read “short but intense, all at once until the end” and releases them in a collection format. The service offers about 400 works, including those by existing Jaedam Media artists such as Min Seo-young, works by university student artists selected through the Webtoon Run contest, works by artists active in publishing and alternative comics such as Kim Subak, Ma Young-shin, Han Cha-eun, and Song Aram, works by artists who were active on alternative webtoon platforms such as Lee Dong-eun/Jeong Yi-yong, Shim Woo-do, and Sundubu, and works by artists active on major platforms such as Jeong Ji-hoon, Myeongrang, Joo Myung, Jepigaru, and Kim Seon-gwon.
Director Park Seok-hwan said, “Just being short increases the creativity and challenge of artists,” and added, “We encourage readers to take on the challenge of reading unique works.”
