The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 22nd that the first special lecture of the 2024 Gwangju JinHak Parent Academy will begin at 7 p.m. on the 23rd at the Haerum Hall of Chosun University.
The "Gwangju JinHak Parent Academy" is a program designed to alleviate parents' anxiety about college admissions by providing accurate admission information amid the changing admissions environment and to strengthen their children's self-directed career and college planning capabilities.
Since its first opening last year, it has attracted much interest from parents, with about 300 parents attending each session.
Several parents attended all six sessions last year without missing a single one. Despite the late hours, starting at 7 p.m. and continuing past 9 p.m., the enthusiasm of the parents' participation remains very high.
The 2024 Gwangju JinHak Parent Academy will be conducted under the themes: ▲First Steps in College Admissions ? Preparing for College Admissions from the Field ▲Understanding Student Record Comprehensive Screening ? The first lecture, titled "First Steps in College Admissions," will be held on the 23rd at 7 p.m. in the large auditorium on the first floor of Haerum Hall at Chosun University.
Lecturers include Lee Hyerim, Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education’s college admissions officer and the nation’s first former admissions officer, along with Kim Minja (Chonnam National University) and Ko Eunae (Chosun University), who are representative female admissions officers with the longest tenure at their respective regional universities and are also mothers raising children.
As a result of online pre-registration, 455 parents have signed up, and on-site registration will also be available on the day of the event.
Superintendent Lee Jeongseon stated, “The Gwangju JinHak Parent Academy was started to provide easy-to-understand and practical help within public education to parents who feel overwhelmed by college admissions.” He added, “Last year, we received great support, with some parents attending every session from start to finish, so we will do our best to support this year with even greater gratitude.”
