Short-term Military Officers Can Also Receive the 'Naeil Baeum Card'

Resolution of the Cabinet Meeting on the Amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the National Lifelong Vocational Competency Development Act

Short-term Military Officers Can Also Receive the 'Naeil Baeum Card'

Military officers and non-commissioned officers who have served less than 5 years and are about to be discharged will also be able to receive the National Tomorrow Learning Card.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 23rd that the amendment to the "National Lifelong Vocational Competency Development Act Enforcement Decree" containing this provision was deliberated and approved at the Cabinet meeting.

Previously, only mid- to long-term military personnel who had served more than 5 years and were about to be discharged could receive the National Tomorrow Learning Card, but with this amendment, all military personnel about to be discharged will be able to receive vocational competency development training.

By receiving the National Tomorrow Learning Card, individuals can receive vocational competency development training with training expenses supported up to 3 million KRW over 5 years. As of the end of 2022, the number of short-term military personnel eligible for the National Tomorrow Learning Card is approximately 14,000.

Additionally, when technical colleges such as Korea Polytechnics perform tasks related to the selection of students and trainees for education and training courses, criminal record information, which is less relevant to vocational competency development, will be excluded from use. This amendment will take effect from the 1st of next month.
