Shinsegae Centum City is showcasing the domestic designer brand ‘SURGERY’ until May 2nd next month.
‘SURGERY’ is famous for using a ‘vintage remake’ method that creates new style products by utilizing various old clothes to minimize carbon emissions generated during the clothing production process.
It is a fashion brand that develops designs by reinterpreting various styles based on deconstructivist thinking, expressing its unique funkiness and uniqueness with the ideology of ‘making one-of-a-kind upcycled clothing from discarded clothes.’
In addition, it operates both a seasonal collection line and a process line that produces limited quantities, attracting a large number of enthusiasts.
This event also features a special promotion exclusive to SURGERY for visiting customers.
The first 20 customers who purchase over 200,000 KRW will receive a SURGERY bone building T-shirt ‘black,’ and among customers who purchase over 500,000 KRW, one will be selected by lottery to receive a SURGERY ReMITED product worth approximately 1,500,000 KRW.
Also, as an upcycling event created together with customers, those who bring in unused ‘denim clothing’ will receive an additional 5% discount (up to an additional 5% per person). The collected clothing is transformed into SURGERY’s ‘Limited Line’ through the hands of the designer.
Not only ‘SURGERY,’ but recently in the fashion industry, there is growing awareness of the seriousness of carbon emissions and environmental pollution caused by the incineration or landfill of clothing waste, and each brand is striving to reduce carbon emissions.
Representative examples include the eco-friendly outdoor brand Patagonia, eco-wear BBC Earth for the whole planet, Discovery which collected discarded plastic from Jeju’s coast to produce T-shirts, and Marimekko, which pursues designs faithful to humans and nature and uses eco-friendly materials.
