Korea East-West Power and Small and Medium Business Corporation Sign MOU
Providing High-Efficiency Equipment Replacement and Carbon Emission Management Solutions
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering is launching a support project for carbon neutrality for its partner companies.
On the 21st, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering announced that it recently signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for a Joint Cooperation Project to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the Shipbuilding Industry" with Korea East-West Power and the Small and Medium Business Corporation at the HD Hyundai headquarters Global R&D Center in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
This project is linked to the "SME Carbon Neutral Transition Support Project" led by the Small and Medium Business Corporation and aims to support small and medium-sized partner companies in shipyards to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
The core of the project is to maximize energy efficiency within workplaces by replacing existing air compressors used by partner companies with high-efficiency equipment. It is expected that replacing one piece of equipment can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 to 60 tons annually.

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, together with Korea East-West Power, will support equipment replacement and maintenance activities for small and medium-sized partner companies in the HD Hyundai shipbuilding division (HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, HD Hyundai Mipo, HD Hyundai Samho).
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering also plans to provide carbon emission measurement and management solutions to help small and medium-sized partner companies efficiently manage energy, especially those that find it difficult to establish dedicated ESG organizations.
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering intends to expand the number of supported companies to up to 1,000.
Kim Seong-jun, CEO of HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, said, "ESG has long become an essential element of corporate management," adding, "We hope this cooperation project will establish itself as a win-win model to achieve the national greenhouse gas emission reduction goals."
HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering was the first in the shipbuilding and offshore industry to contribute to a win-win cooperation fund and has been continuously conducting ESG support activities for partner companies, including providing ESG consulting and supporting the establishment of smart systems within partner factories to build a sustainable ecosystem and maintain a stable supply chain.
