Busan City Holds the 2nd Busan Merchants' Day Event Poster for the 2nd Busan Metropolitan City Merchants' Day.

This event is hosted by the city and organized by the Busan Merchants Association. It is sponsored by the Small Enterprise and Market Service and BNK Busan Bank.

Now in its second year, Merchants Day was first held last year with the purpose of strengthening merchants' capabilities in response to changes in the distribution environment, encouraging their hard work, and uniting their collective strength to revitalize markets.

About 3,000 merchants from 16 traditional markets and shopping districts across the city’s 16 districts and counties are expected to attend, sharing information and fostering communication and harmony among traditional markets.

The event will be divided into three parts: Part 1 - Opening Ceremony, Part 2 - Strengthening Merchants’ Capabilities, and Part 3 - Harmony and Exchange.

During Part 1, the opening ceremony will include ▲entrance of regional flag bearers ▲the official opening marking the successful start of Merchants Day ▲awards ceremony for contributors to traditional market revitalization ▲and an opening performance.

Part 2’s program to strengthen merchants’ capabilities will consist of ▲marketing education for traditional markets led by expert instructors in response to changes in the distribution environment ▲presentations sharing innovative success cases ▲and fire prevention education for traditional markets vulnerable to fire, all designed to support merchants’ capacity building.

Part 3, the harmony and exchange session among merchants, will offer various attractions such as ▲recreational activities ▲merchants’ talent shows ▲and congratulatory performances.

Additionally, the venue will feature a separate policy promotion hall showcasing projects for commercial district revitalization (Yeonje Obang Commercial District), promotion of the Busan Dongbaek Card, and information on the Serious Accident Punishment Act, which has been expanded this year to apply to workplaces with fewer than 50 employees.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “This event will not only further strengthen the capabilities of Busan’s merchants but also provide an opportunity to promote exchange and harmony among them. We expect that this will help Busan’s traditional markets transform into highly competitive markets.” He added, “Our city will continue to implement various policies to ensure that Busan’s traditional markets become places customers want to visit again.”
