Fire Hero Program... 3,000 Firefighters and Families Supported Continuously for 19 Years
S-OIL, together with the National Fire Agency and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare, delivered 560 million KRW in sponsorship funds for the Fire Hero Keeper program at its headquarters in Mapo, Seoul on the 19th.
The sponsorship funds will be used for treatment costs for injured firefighters, scholarships for children of fallen firefighters, and awards for fire heroes. Along with the sponsorship fund delivery ceremony, a ceremony was held to appoint S-OIL CEO Al Hizazi as an honorary firefighter.
Since 2006, S-OIL has been implementing programs such as scholarships for children of fallen firefighters, consolation payments for bereaved families, treatment costs for injured firefighters, firefighter rest camps, and the Fire Hero of the Year award program under the ‘Fire Hero Keeper’ agreement with the National Fire Agency.
Over the past 19 years, S-OIL has supported about 3,000 firefighters and their families with approximately 10 billion KRW.
In recognition of its various support programs for firefighters and their families, S-OIL received the Volunteer Award at the 29th KBS 119 Awards and achieved the appointment of CEO Al Hizazi as an honorary firefighter.
S-OIL CEO Al Hizazi said, “S-OIL will never forget the sacrifices and courage of firefighters who have served society, and we will always take pride in them,” adding, “We will continue to support the Fire Hero Keeper program to encourage firefighters who protect citizens in various disaster situations under difficult working conditions, and actively invest in fire safety and hazardous materials facility safety.”
